Susana Reberdito

“La exposición “Tempest” de Susana Reberdito está inspirada en la obra teatral homónima de Shakespeare, y este criterio sirve como base para sumergirse por completo en el tema del mar. La artista vasca que reside en Alemania transmite el anhelo del Mar Cantábrico, y no es la primera vez que este tema aparece en su obra. Sin embargo, con la actual serie “Tempest”, va un paso más allá, ya que está llena de dramatismo. Mientras que en obras anteriores veíamos un mar en un ambiente pacífico, con una paleta de colores armoniosa y ritmos sinuosos, ahora los colores aparecen intensificados, al igual que los ritmos de las olas y todo el movimiento en general. La paleta se ha ampliado con tonos adicionales, incluso llegando al negro, y en algunas composiciones, Reberdito utiliza otros recursos, como la imagen dentro de la imagen, para resaltar la escena, así como una amplia variedad de formatos.

”Tempest” es un viaje a través de las emociones, donde es fácil dejarse llevar de una obra a otra, para descubrir en cada una una diferente tonalidad, momento del día o acumulación de momentos y recuerdos. Los grandes formatos permiten al espectador sumergirse en las olas sugeridas por la artista y sentir la fuerza de un mar tan emocional.”

“Die Ausstellung Tempest von Susana Reberdito, ist inspiriert von Shakespeares gleichnamigem Theaterstück und dieses Kriterium dient als Vorlage, um sich voll und ganz auf das Thema Meer einzulassen. Die in Deutschland lebende baskische Künstlerin vermittelt die Sehnsucht nach dem Kantabrischen Meer, und es ist nicht das erste Mal, dass dieses in ihrem Werk auftaucht. Mit der aktuellen Tempest-Serie geht sie jedoch noch etwas weiter, denn sie ist voller Dramatik. Während wir in früheren Werken ein Meer in friedlicher Atmosphäre sahen, mit harmonischer Farbpalette und gewundenen Rhythmen, erscheinen die Farben nun intensiviert, ebenso wie die Rhythmen der Wellen und die gesamte Bewegung im Allgemeinen. Die Palette wurde um weitere Töne bis hin zu Schwarz erweitert und in den Kompositionen setzt Reberdito in einigen Werken andere Mittel ein, wie z.B. das Bild im Bild, um die Szene hervorzuheben, sowie eine große Vielfalt an Formaten.

Tempest ist eine Reise durch die Emotionen, bei der es leicht ist, sich von einem Werk zum anderen treiben zu lassen, um in jedem einzelnen eine andere Nuance, Tageszeit oder Ansammlung von Momenten und Erinnerungen zu entdecken. Die großen Formate erlauben es dem Betrachter, in die Wellen, die die Künstlerin suggeriert, einzutauchen und die Kraft eines solch emotionalen Meeres zu spüren.”

“The exhibition “Tempest” by Susana Reberdito is inspired by Shakespeare’s play of the same name, and this criterion serves as a template to fully engage with the theme of the sea. The Basque artist living in Germany conveys the longing for the Cantabrian Sea, and it is not the first time that this theme appears in her work. However, with the current Tempest series, she goes even further, as it is full of drama. While in previous works, we saw a sea in a peaceful atmosphere, with a harmonious color palette and winding rhythms, now the colors appear intensified, as well as the rhythms of the waves and the overall movement. The palette has been expanded with additional tones, including black, and in some compositions, Reberdito uses other means, such as the picture within the picture, to highlight the scene, as well as a wide variety of formats.

”Tempest” is a journey through emotions, where it is easy to be carried from one work to another, to discover in each a different nuance, time of day, or accumulation of moments and memories. The large formats allow the viewer to immerse themselves in the waves suggested by the artist and feel the power of such an emotional sea.”
